AMERICAS CUP

Americas Cup

Americas Cup triathlon is a specific level of continental triathlon race organized by World Triathlon within the Americas region, typically a draft-legal, sprint-distance event (750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run) that serves as a crucial step for athletes on their path to competing in higher-tier World Triathlon Cup and Championship Series events. These races, such as those in Kelowna and Magog, are a key part of Triathlon Canada's National Development Series and offer valuable ranking points for athletes.

Purpose and Significance

The Americas Cup serves as a key development race for emerging and developing athletes. It is a stepping stone for athletes aiming for eligibility to compete in higher-tier events like World Triathlon Championship Series races. The events are a crucial part of national programs, such as Triathlon Canada's National Development Series.

An International Elite Race

Elite Triathletes from countries around the world compete in this series throughout the year to earn points towards Championship and World Cup events. Kelowna will be host to some of these international elite athletes for the Americas Cup event.
